IHA Joins Gov. Pritzker, State Leaders at Youth Mental Health Roundtable
This week, Gov. JB Pritzker joined Illinois high schoolers for a youth mental health roundtable to discuss ongoing efforts to support the mental health and well-being of students across Illinois. Coinciding with Mental Health Awareness Month, the roundtable brought together representatives from the Illinois Health and Hospital Association, education, public health, and community organizations, who shared updates, identified gaps, and sought to strengthen coordination across state agencies. Click here for more information.

At the event, Gov. Pritzker announced that Dr. Dana Weiner would be stepping down as Illinois’ Chief Officer for Children’s Behavioral Health Transformation. Under Pritzker’s directive, Chief Weiner started Illinois’ Children’s Behavioral Health Transformation Initiative in 2022. The initiative has resulted in annual reports auditing all youth behavioral health services, new laws and policies across six state agencies, and the statewide BEACON portal (Behavioral Health Care and Ongoing Navigation).

BEACON is a centralized resource for Illinois youth and families seeking services for behavioral health needs. Hospitals trialed the BEACON portal before the public and contributed critical feedback on its use for youth staying in hospitals beyond medical necessity that need timely, coordinated behavioral healthcare and support services.

Targeted Technical Assistance for Rural Hospitals Program
The Targeted Technical Assistance for Rural Hospitals Program (TTAP) is a federally-funded initiative that offers virtual and on-site technical assistance to rural hospitals, including Critical Access Hospitals and Inpatient Prospective Payment System hospitals, to address financial and operational challenges and maintain essential health services for their communities. Funded by Federal Office of Rural Health Policy and carried out by experts at the Georgia Southern University Center for Rural and Public Health Practice and Research, the program accepts applications on an ongoing basis, with a cut-off of Sept. 30 for the next cohort. AMA: Mid-career Physicians Report Higher Burnout Rates
As physician burnout continues to ease, the recovery is not being felt evenly across the profession. The AMA released data yesterday showing that years in practice can shape how physicians experience burnout, with early-career doctors and those later in their careers facing different pressures. In 2025, 41.9% of physicians reported experiencing at least one symptom of burnout. However, burnout rates varied among physicians based on the number of years in practice, post residency or fellowship training. The data show that midcareer physicians report the highest levels of burnout and job stress, while physicians at more than 20 years post-residency reported the lowest. Midcareer physicians also reported the lowest rates of job satisfaction and feeling valued, with early and late-career physicians reported the highest job satisfaction at 77.9% and 79.6%, respectively.

As of Feb. 24, Erbe USA has reported five serious injuries, and no deaths associated with this issue.

The FDA has also updated its recall communication about Philips Trilogy Evo Platform Ventilators following additional information that has been provided by Philips about the reasons for the recall and updated guidance for affected customers. Bears stadium bill, Illinois budget in the balance as Springfield session winds down

Chicago Sun-Times

Illinois lawmakers were running the hurry-up offense Thursday as the clock winds down on their effort to advance property tax-incentive legislation intended to help the Chicago Bears build a new stadium in Arlington Heights and prevent them from moving to Indiana. That was just one of several legislative footballs lingering well short of the goal line late in Springfield’s drive to the end of the spring session — chief among them, passing a roughly $56 billion state budget by the state constitutional deadline of midnight Sunday.
