DEADLINE: Medicaid IMPACT Revalidations Due to Receive Medicaid Reimbursement
The Illinois Dept. of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) is currently conducting IMPACT Medicaid provider revalidations. Providers in the November cohort must complete IMPACT revalidations by this Sunday, Nov. 30, in order to receive Medicaid reimbursement. IHA urges all providers to check their revalidation cycle due date—including physicians and physician groups affiliated with your hospitals—and to check for any incomplete revalidations. NOTE: If a physician providing services at your hospital does not revalidate, your hospital will not receive payment for services provided by that physician.

If you are in this revalidation cycle and do not submit your revalidation information by Nov. 30 you will be disenrolled from the IMPACT system and cannot receive retroactive enrollment. To check your revalidation due date, search the basic information page of your IMPACT enrollment. HFS has provided IHA with step-by-step instructions to check the status and due date of servicing providers that you can access here. The IMPACT Provider Revalidation website includes step-by-step instructions, a frequently asked questions document and a townhall webinar recording.

Recall Alert: Intersurgical Inc Removes i-View Video Laryngoscope
The Food and Drug Administration issued an alert about Intersurgical Inc.’s recall of the i-View Video Laryngoscope due to the device not turning on, battery liquid leakage, and the screen going blank. The use of affected product may cause serious adverse health consequences, including trauma, desaturation, hypoxia, damage to the oropharynx, aspiration of gastric contents and death. The recall notice recommends customers immediately discontinue use and quarantine the affected devices. As of June 20, Intersurgical has not reported any serious injuries or deaths associated with this issue.

Correction Alert: Updated Use Instructions for Certain Medline Kits
The Food and Drug Administration issued a recent correction alert  that Medline Industries, LP is recommending the removal of Flexicare BritePro Solo fiber optic laryngoscope handles from certain Medline medical convenience kits prior to use due to the light not illuminating as intended. Failure of the BritePro Solo to illuminate may prevent effective illumination of the patient airway, potentially causing delay in treatment or requiring intubation using a different device. This recall does not involve removal of the devices, but does outline actions that should be immediately taken prior to use of the kit. As of Aug. 8, Medline Industries has not reported any serious injuries or deaths related to this issue.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released an update on the processing of Medicare provider claims impacted during the government shutdown. CMS said mass adjustments will be made to any paid claims that are inconsistent with the government funding bill that retroactively restored many payment provisions through Jan. 30. This includes a payment adjustment for low-volume inpatient hospitals and a payment adjustment for the Medicare-dependent hospital program. CMS also said hospitals can resubmit returned claims for telehealth services and the Acute Hospital Care at Home program dated Oct. 1 or later.

The percentage of American adults who report being diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime reached 9.7% in 2024-2025—a new high in Gallup’s survey. This is a significant increase from the 7% Gallup recorded in 2008-2009. Gallup reported that adults with a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime registered just over 7% from 2010 to 2015, when cancer diagnosis began to climb, increasing at a greater pace over the past decade.
